Directions

Scranton is easily reached from all points in the Northeast. Driving time from New York City,  Philadelphia, Trenton, Hartford or Syracuse is less than three hours.

  • From the North: I-81 South to Exit 185
  • From the West: I-80 East to I-81 North to Exit 185
  • From Connecticut and New England: I-84 West to I-81 South to Exit 185
  • From New York City and Northern New Jersey: I-80 West to I-380 West to I-81 South to Exit 185
  • From Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey: Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Exit 37, I-81 North to Exit 185
  • From Baltimore and Washington: I-83 North to I-81 North to Exit 185

From Exit 185 (Central Scranton Expressway): bear left toward Central City. (You will see the University of Scranton’s athletic field on your immediate left.) Take lane for Spruce Street and pass under the railroad bridge to the traffic light. Go straight through light and after one block you will see Courthouse Square, the festival site, on your right.

Accommodations

Lodging at La Festa Italiana: A block of rooms have been reserved for the weekend of La Festa at the Hilton Scranton. The special room rate will be available until the group block is sold-out.

Transportation

Special round-trip train from Delaware Water Gap, East Stroudsburg, and Cresco on September 1 for La Festa Italiana patrons

The Erie Lackawanna Dining Car Preservation Society will operate a “Scranton La Festa Italiana and Steamtown Railfest Train Excursion” on Saturday, September 1, 2012.  Passengers will depart from the Delaware Water Gap Station, East Stroudsburg Station and Cresco Station.  Passengers will arrive in Scranton along Ridge Row between the Radisson and the University of Scranton  Tickets are $39 for adults and $36 for children 12 and under.  For those going to Steamtown Railfest,  the tickets are $48/$45 as this will include admission into Steamtown Railfest.  Additional questions may be directed to the Erie Lackawanna Dining Car Preservation Society at (908) 268-0675

Trolley between Railfest and La Festa Italiana on September 1 & 2

The Steamtown National Historic Site will provide trolley buses between Railfest and La Festa Italiana on Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2.  For more information, please visit the Steamtown National Historic Site web at www.nps.gov/stea
